Natural and organic supermarket chain Whole Foods is known for providing healthy, eco-friendly grocery items. We love Whole Foods for this, and their commendable charity work. Their Whole Kids Foundation strives to end the childhood obesity epidemic though initiatives like Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools. A fund-raising calendar sold in stores creates awareness for their Whole Planet Foundation, which according to the company website supports “poverty alleviation in developing-world communities where Whole Foods Market sources products.” Yet another effort, Local Producer Loan Program (LPLP), gives up to $10 million in low-interest loans to small, local producers. Plus their annual “Bag Hunger” campaign raises funds for grocery items that are donated to locals in need. Just recently, Whole Foods held a wine tasting for a chapter of Shoes That Fit, an organization that provides children with shoes and clothing. Their amazing charity and efforts to only carry eco-friendly products are why DoGooders love Whole Foods!
