Hi DoGooders!
This week, I went on a search for a great eco-friendly party dress. This was more difficult than I thought it would be–it seems that while green fashion is thriving in most areas, fancy yet eco-friendly designs are not as easy to come by.
Luckily, I found ecoSkin, a California-based company that produces eco-conscious dresses and tops. The company was started in 2007 by Sandy Skinner, an apparel veteran who saw that there was much to be desired by way of eco-friendly AND stylish designs in the industry. ecoSkin uses only environmentally sustainable luxury fabrics–all woven, dyed, and sewn in the USA.
While browsing the ecoSkin website, I came across a couple of great options. One of my favorites is the Phoenix Dress-a knit, off the shoulder piece that comes in black, charcoal, and red. The bare-shoulder style makes it especially appropriate for a dressy occasion. In the photo on the site it’s shown on a model hitting just barely above the knee, so I would wear it with a pair of high heels. The dress is very versatile, so its $150.00 price tag works very nicely.
Another great option is the Pavo Dress. It comes in black and deep teal, but I would definitely go for the black if you’re looking for an elegant get-up. It’s described on the website as a “belted boat neck dress.” In the photo it looks very short, but the top of the dress is conservatively cut and has a high neck-line. This piece is priced at $172.00. Wear it with a pair of sparkly gold or silver heels to dress up the look.
Another beautiful option is the Angelite Dress. This dress has a classic high-waist shape with a draped neck-line and sleeves and a slim, body-hugging skirt. It comes in green, purple, and black. This style is suitable for any body-type…its classic design would flatter anyone. It is priced at $150.00.
I’m so excited to have found ecoSkin.com. Besides these fancy dresses, there are many more casual eco-friendly dress options for work and play!
